Currently in construction, Freedom Elementary School is the sixth facility based on a prototypical design adopted by the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System. The school is organized into four distinct zones, including the administrative suite, four learning communities, the media center, dining and activity spaces, and the gymnasium, creating a layout that is clear, efficient, and easy to navigate.
The building features an arched entrance canopy, a large glass atrium, and butterfly-wing clerestories that bring natural daylight into the learning communities while supporting indoor environmental quality. Designed with student safety, functionality, and sustainability in mind, the school incorporates direct circulation, enhanced egress, energy-efficient building systems, and healthy interior materials.
Kirkwood Elementary also emphasizes spaces that support both learning and community use, including dedicated classrooms for music and arts, a media center, gymnasium, and cafeteria. The result is a welcoming and high-performing educational environment that supports students, staff, and the broader community.
Freedom Elementary is scheduled to open for the 2026 school year.
