As Rufus Johnson Associates (RJA) Vice-president, Daniel Binkley has two decades of experience in architecture and commercial construction, in both the public and private sectors.  Daniel’s role as Vice-President of RJA is broad and holds many responsibilities which are preparing him to assume the role as managing partner eventually.  It is Binkley’s hope “that this will be many years down the road” as he and Johnson have formed a great bond and Daniel believes “that he still has so much to learn from Rudy’s years of experience.”
Daniel spent his high school years working as a Mason’s helper and then after graduating moved into the commercial construction industry as an Electrician from 1996 until 2001. This in-the-field practical experience has proven valuable and has helped him excel in the design field.  In 2001, Binkley started Architecture School while also working with Tunnell-Spangler-Walsh & Associates in Atlanta, GA. Upon returning home to Clarksville, Daniel joined RJA as a Project Architect. He continued to hone his skills as an Architect until he transitioned the Public Sector in 2009. Binkley was employed with the City of Clarksville providing oversight for the City’s Planning and Design of Capital Projects. As an Owner’s Representative he developed a strong sense and understanding of a “client’s needs and expectations,” especially with clients in the public realm.  In 2014, Binkley rejoined RJA where he was offered a partnership in the firm and is a Project Manager.
Daniel’s years of experience in the construction field have provided for a true understanding and appreciation of what it takes to produce a great set of construction documents. He believes that good construction documents are the basis for quality control, which leads to a smooth and successful project for all involved.  This innate ability, combined with his keen design eye lead to tasteful, yet practical, designs.  Binkley’s broad experience provides a unique skill-set and perspective held by very few architects in our profession today.
