Upon graduating from Old Dominion University in 1990 with a degree in Secondary Education, with a focus on Technology. Michael spent 6 years teaching Industrial Arts in Virginia and Southern Illinois. Afterwards, he went to work for Walker Baker Associates in Harrisburg, IL before attending Southern Illinois University – Carbondale to study Architecture. In 2003, Micheal earned a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies. After graduating, Bell went to work for Earl Swensson Associates in Nashville, TN where he spent fourteen years. In 2010, he was licensed in the state of Tennessee to practice Architecture. After working at a few other architects in the area, Michael came to work at Rufus Johnson Associates.
During his 23 years in architecture, Michael has gained experience in multiple building types and all aspects of project delivery project. He is well rounded in design, detailing, construction administration and Building Information Modeling. To Bell, the success of any project depends on the details and how well we explain how the “pieces” relate to form the “cohesive whole”. This explains his drive for excellence throughout the construction document process. Michael leads the Building Information Modeling method for the RJA Team.
