Upon graduating from Old Dominion University in 1990 with a degree in Secondary Education, with a focus on Technology,Michelle spent 6 years teaching Industrial Arts in Virginia and Southern Illinois. Afterwards, she went to work for Walker Baker Associates in Harrisburg, IL before attending Southern Illinois University – Carbondale to study Architecture. In 2003, Michelle earned a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies. After graduating, Wilson went to work for Earl Swensson Associates in Nashville, TN where she spent fourteen years. In 2010, she was licensed in the state of Tennessee to practice Architecture. After working at a few other firms in the area, Michelle joined Rufus Johnson Associates in 2019.
During her 25 years in architecture, Michelle has gained experience in multiple building types and all aspects of project delivery project. She is well rounded in design, detailing, construction administration and Building Information Modeling. To Wilson, the success of any project depends on the details and how well we explain how the “pieces” relate to form the “cohesive whole”. This explains her drive for excellence throughout the construction document process. Michelle leads the Building Information Modeling method for the RJA Team and acts as the Model Manager for all projects utilizing REVIT platform.
